Explained

Coming off of my Surreal From Summer series and entering 2021, I wanted to continue exploring the art style I had been teaching myself. Working inside-out with piece #017, I came up with the composition, and worked my way to the flower border to complete the summer feeling.

I was very happy with the very busy, but strangely cohesive design I had created, and the floral border really made it feel like a complete, authentic artwork. It was a sort of look that I hadn’t made yet, and was a product of my own original take on collaging, now practiced after the Surreal From Summer series and earliest works.

Committing myself to make a series out of the floral border and complex designs was viewed as just continuing to practice and edge my way into this art style. In turn, I view this as some of my best pieces of art, despite how early along I made them. It showed me that ideas on layering and composition could take me far.
