Colorzing Black & White.

Explained

This series was inspired by the first photo I used for it featuring the theater audience. In that piece, the idea of black and white colorization gave me an idea of the emotional tone I could capture with a collection of these works. This is pretty much the first time with this style that, before I even started one piece, I was casually set on making a series.

The emotional tone I mentioned is the key to this series. Throughout the first 4 pieces, there is the motif of black and white contrasted with a singular figure being colorized or focused on. This accomplishes a sense of independence and separation, cast in a positive light. I wanted to capture my feelings as an artist. I always felt that I was not unable to properly communicate how I see the world as an artist.

The final installment of the series represents connecting perspectives to other people. The people climb out of the black and white world to join the same awakening, for a dramatic term, as the rest of the figures in the series. This series utilized creating a consistent and cohesive tone and message rather than directly similar visual elements, such as the Flowas series.
