Colorful Musicians

Explained

I was bored sitting at the San Fransisco airport when I grabbed a few photos of Tyler, intent on finding a way to collage a face. I had the idea that, theoretically, if I used different photos and lined up the facial features somewhat, it should accomplish a good picture of the person, while also having a weird collage look.

Adding the solid color background, the awkward torso cutting, and then stage light vignette really added personality, and made the pieces feel like a collectible item or something. With the Kendrick piece and so on, I began experimenting with how the different perspectives of the faces distorted the shape of the face and tone of the piece.

This was a fun early application of me trying to utilize my art towards a mainstream, pop-culture appeal. It serves as unique experimentation and studying of how to use my art style on people, as I think art of a human is much more engaging for people than random collaging. I might continue this series in the future.
